Posted by Dp Deng on July 20, 2015 . 0 Comments

Thank you all for your patience. We are almost there.

Our manufacturing partner is gearing up for assembly as of now. Barring any last minute issues, the first batch of the BTunes and low latency transmitter will be ready to ship to us at Fremont, CA on July 27th; and more will be shipped to us a few days later. To save time, we'll use DHL to air ship to us, which will take 2-3 days. As soon as we receive them, we'll start shipping to you. The general shipping schedule order will be

  • 3.5mm model
  • Bose QC15 model
  • 2.5mm model
  • Bose QC25 model

We will use USPS service to ship the BTunes and transmitters to you.

Cheers

The BTunes works with OSX

Posted by Dp Deng on June 26, 2015 . 0 Comments

As the BTunes is a receiver, it should work with any transmitter: iPhone/iPad/tablets/android devices. In general, OSX supports Bluetooth really well, whereas Microsoft Windows doesn't support Bluetooth so well due to its weak driver support.

From Kickstarter update

Preproduction done, mass production date set.

Dear Backers and Friends,

I'd like to update you on the following three issues

  • Preproduction
  • Mass production
  • A small batch (ready to go)

We finally finished the preproduction phase, and our next phase is the mass production.

Preproduction

The preproduction went really well. We identified a few areas that may go wrong in the assembly process, and the final assembly process is a manual of 40 steps.

Dear Backers and Friends,

Here's a quick update on the mould and preproduction.

Our mould traveled back and forth between its maker and its user a few times. I'm so happy to tell you, we got it through. Here are some photos of the shells made with the repaired mould.

And we made some more, 100 units to be exact.

We silk printed NFC logo on them

Preproduction

We will fully assemble 100 units tomorrow, and then we will go through a battery of reliability tests...

Preproduction status

We scheduled to have a preproduction run in early May, but our mould got damaged on the injection machine at the plastic injection factory. We had to fix it and restart the preproduction phase, and we are very close to get it done in the next few days.

Here's one photo that shows 1 of 3 parts of damages.

Here's 1 of the 3 parts that got damaged for your reference
After the preproduction run, we'll schedule mass production and then we could start to deliver. Our original schedule is to deliver to our Kickstarter backers in May and preorder backers in June. We are late for our Kickstarter backers and feel sorry about it. We are working very hard to finish everything in June. One of the risk in the manufacturing process is something unforeseen events. A mould gets damaged after delivering...
